Notes: 'Voicing Mysteries' is an event that sees the artist bringing the physicality of parameters of the market place and the collected mysteries of 280 people form the market site into a ritualised relationship. In this event the artist will voice the 280 short texts of mystery gained from the transactions involved in the Insurance stall event. Using a bespoke gilded lectern, Newling will read each of the 280 mysteries at each designated points along the central axis of the market place. From dusk the artist will start the repeated ritual of suffusing the site with the read mysteries. The reading will be amplified into the surrounding space of the market and beyond. Newling views twilight as a place where our dreams and thoughts coalesce constructing a place to explore and cross; a threshold. Each of the places of the reading will be illuminated. In this manner the central axis of the site becomes the repository of an event that brings back to the site a refigured event that acknowledges the contribution of 280 visitors to the insurance stall in 2006 whilst creating a singularly visual and sonic event. http://www.lossofmystery.com
